OTIKEEN®

The use of topical moisturizers (emollients) reduces the frequency and severity of eczema episodes, as well as the need for topical steroids, improves the barrier function of the skin’s stratum corneum (the outermost layer), reduce inflammation and restore epidermal functions.

Clinically tested

Mitelos has conceived and developed OTIKEEN®, a new treatment with a corticosteroid- free formulation that has moisturising, nourishing, repairing and soothing properties.

OTIKEEN® is a formula rich in active ingredients that moisturise the skin of the ear canal.

Its oils and moisturising active ingredients restore the skin barrier and soothe itching. These actions actively retain water in the skin, thanks to panthenol, and passively, thanks to the film-forming properties of its oils.

OTIKEEN® includes an antioxidant that protects the skin of the external ear canal from oxidative stress and therefore from itching and minor flaking that may be generated or triggered by external agents.

OTIKEEN® also includes High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic acid (HMW-HA), a hygroscopic molecule with the ability to bind 1000 times its volume in water. Due to this exceptionally strong water absorption property, HMW-HA is able to hydrate both the stratum corneum and the dermis.

OTIKEEN® has been clinically proven to have moisturising, nourishing, repairing and soothing properties.

In a hydration clinical study, OTIKEEN® significantly increased the hydration of the epidermis after a single application by +98pp (1st hour), +80pp (4th hour) and +88pp (8th hour), compared to the control (p<0.0001).

In an anti-irritation clinical study, OTIKEEN® significantly decreased the erythema levels of the epidermis induced by capsaicin, after a single application, by -27pp (10min), -30pp (30min), -35pp (60min) and -30pp (90min), compared to the control (p<0.01, p<0.001, p<0.0001 and p<0.001, respectively).
